MP Bista speaks on concerning state of NBMCH, Mayor and Chairman of Rogi Kalyan Samiti Goutam Deb responds

Siliguri, 27th May: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista visited the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) to meet a patient from Naxalbari, today. During his visit, he expressed deep concern about the conditions at the hospital and made a strong statement regarding the Chief Minister’s response to the situation. MP Bista stated, “If the Chief Minister writes to me officially, I am ready to take on the responsibility of managing the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.”

While interacting with patients and their families at the hospital, MP Bista was moved by the sight of patients occupying the hospital corridors due to overcrowding. He voiced his discontent with the financial state of the hospital, expressing his desire to bring about positive change.

In response to the MP’s remarks, Goutam Deb, Chairman of the Patient Welfare Committee (Rogi Kalyan Samiti) of NBMCH, countered by questioning MP Bista’s ability to effectively run such a large medical college and hospital. Deb remarked that the MP’s periodic appearances did not lend credibility to his claims, stating, “I visit the medical college every day. These comments by the MP hold no merit and seem like childish remarks.”
