Siliguri, 16th March: The monthly session of Siliguri Municipal Corporation was held on Monday. During the session, Mayor Ashok Bhattacharya stated that the salaries of temporary employees have been increased by 7.5% and the new salary will be implemented from next April.

However, the Congress and Trinamool councillors demanded that an increment of 10 per cent should be made instead of 7.5%. Besides, the Mayor further stated that an amount of 15 lakh rupees will be allocated to raise awareness regarding the Coronavirus outbreak.

On the other hand, the opposition leader Ranjan Sarkar pointed out the drawbacks of the various works conducted by SMC. A dispute also broke out between them in this regard. Despite all the chaos, the monthly session concluded peacefully.
