Mohammad Noor Nabibul Islam marched by foot to Siliguri’s Uttar Kanya, in demand of bridge over Chel River

Fulbari, 28th May: Mohammad Noor Nabibul Islam, carrying forward the demand of the residents of Malbazar and Kranti, regarding a bridge over Chel River, marched by foot and reached Uttar Kanya, Siliguri, last evening. Mohammad Noor, a resident of the Kathalguri area of Kranti block, started the foot march on the 23rd of May.


In this regard, he has also submitted memorandums demanding the construction of a bridge over the Chel River by visiting the houses of various state and central leaders. Mohammad Noor’s pledge was also joined and supported by Padmashree, Karimul Haque.

Speaking in this regard, Mohammad Noor explained that, in the Dooars section, Chel River flows between Malbazar and Kranti block, has knee-deep water during winters, however, the river takes a gigantic form during the rainy season. Following which, citizens of Kranti area have to travel about 40 kilometers to reach Malbazar for various works and necessities including medical, education, and business.


Additionally, he stated that, in case of fire outbreak in the village, houses get burnt down even before the arrival of fire engine. Also, emergency medical care patients face difficulties. According to him, a bridge over Chel River, in Kumlai village area, can considerably reduce the distance of Malbazar and Kranti, for which, scores of residents have been demanding for years now. He further said that, carrying forward this demand, he has reached out to the State Chief Minister by marching on foot.
