Minister Hakim denies SMC being deprived, Ashok Bhattacharya demands state to issue a white paper

Siliguri, 01st December: While addressing the gathering during the inaugural ceremony of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on Monday, Firhad Hakim, the Cabinet Minister of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Government of West Bengal denied the Siliguri Municipality Corporation of being deprived of various facilities. He added that the state will bear a great loss if Siliguri is deprived in any way.


It is to recall, on Monday, the statue was inaugurated in front of the Head Post Office in Siliguri’s Kachari Road by the Cabinet Minister. Congress MLA Shankar Malakar, Ashok Bhattacharya (Chairman of BoA at SMC), District Trinamool President Ranjan Sarkar, and co-ordinators of different wards were present during the programme.

Meanwhile, Ashok Bhattacharya has strongly condemned the Minister’s controversial statement. During a press conference today, Bhattacharya said that the Left Board had to face a complete financial shortage while in power. He demanded that if Siliguri is not deprived, the state government should issue a white paper at the earliest.
