Siliguri, 28th January: On the call of District Left Front, a meeting was organized at Mitra Sammilani Hall on Saturday. During the meeting today, the Left leaders and activists made various allegations against the present Siliguri Municipal Corporation Board.
During the meeting, Left Front convenor Jibesh Sarkar accused the Siliguri Municipal Corporation Board of failing to provide civic services to the residents. On the other hand, Ashok Bhattacharya, former Mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, present in the civic meeting, said that it is possible to win the hearts of all if there is a desire to work. Adding, he accused SMC of only being busy with conducting festivals, carnivals and celebrations in Siliguri which has halted the development of the city.
While District Secretary Saman Pathak said that the Municipal Corporation Board has completely failed to provide citizen service. Stating this, he further alleged that the city is deprived of proper public service and talked of launching a bigger movement against it.
