Siliguri, 29th November: Siliguri Municipal Corporation has taken over the two-hundred-year-old DI Fund Market and a plan has been passed to revamp the said market. Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb inaugurated a public toilet in the market today.
Reportedly, there are many concerns in the 200-year-old DI fund market. The Siliguri Municipal Corporation has taken up the responsibility of maintaining this historical market. Toilets have been constructed as the first development, which the mayor inaugurated today. Mayor-Council Manik Dey, Sikta Basu Roy, Borough No. 4 Chairman Jayant Saha, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Ward Councilor Prashant Chakraborty, and others were present on the occasion.
Mayor Goutam Deb said that the work of the first phase has been completed by spending about Rs 4.5 lakh. After this, the said market will rebuild in a phased manner. He further added that the market committee will have to take responsibility of the security of the market.
