Siliguri, 18th December: The ground of Siliguri’s Kanchenjunga Stadium is undergoing prompt renovation following the chief minister’s visit. On Monday, Mayor Goutam Deb, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, and others took stock of the restoration work.
It is to be noted that on the 12th of December, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed a meeting on the ground of the stadium. The meeting, however, was opposed by Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh based on postponing the tournament to December 24 in regards to conducting the CM’S event. However, Mayor Goutam Deb had assured unequivocally that there would be no damage to the ground as a result of this gathering.
Following the meeting, the ground was to be made suitable for hosting the tournament. As a result, the restoration work commenced earlier on Monday and is being swiftly carried out. In this regard, the Mayor expressed that the restoration work is almost over and that the ground will be suitable for conducting the tournament.
