Siliguri, 15th March: On Friday, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb laid the foundation stone of a new bridge in More Bazar area in Ward No. 34 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. Long ago, an iron bridge was built which is currently in a dilapidated condition causing hardships in transportation. Significantly, the locals have been demanding a new bridge for a long time. Ultimately, the foundation stone of a new bridge was laid under the initiative of the North Bengal Development Department (NBDD).
Reportedly, on this day, Mayor Gautam Deb laid the foundation stone of the bridge work. During this, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Ward No. 34 Councilor Biman Chandra Tafadar and others were present.
In this regard, the Mayor stated that the NBDD has allocated Rs 2 crore and 40 lakh for the bridge. Meanwhile, students and local residents are elated with the start of work on the new bridge.
