Siliguri, 10th January: Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb held a special meeting with the administrative officials at the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) to control traffic congestion in the city.
The meeting witnessed the presence of SMC’s Deputy Mayor, ADCP Traffic Purnima Sherpa, SDO Priyanka Singh, ARTO, other administrative officers, and the MMICs.
It has to be noted that several plans were formulated earlier to tackle traffic issues in Siliguri, but to no avail. Reportedly, the Municipal Corporation is undertaking new initiatives to control the movement of e-rickshaws. In alignment with the new initiatives and their formulation, a meeting was organized at the Municipal Corporation Auditorium on Wednesday. During the meeting, the officials were engaged in a prolonged discussion on the e-rickshaws issue.
