Mayor extends support to traders affected by road widening and sewerage repairs in Siliguri

Siliguri, 15th May: The roadside shops established along the ITI More to ISKCON More in Sevoke Road, Siliguri have been demolished due to the ongoing road widening and sewerage repair work. This as a result has caused a significant disruption for local traders. In response, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb has assured the impacted businessmen of support and relocation.


According to reports, Mayor Gautam Deb, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, councilors, and the borough chairman visited the area on this day. The mayor spoke to the affected businessmen and assured them of relocating their business elsewhere as per the plan.

On this day, the traders voiced their concerns and stated that their businesses had been shut for several months. However, they acknowledged the developmental and beautification works keeping in mind the needs of the traders. Meanwhile, the traders expressed their relief over the mayor’s assurance.


In this regard, Mayor Gautam Deb exclaimed that the traders were not being evicted but rather relocated as per the plan. He further mentioned that the impacted traders are cooperating accordingly.
