Siliguri, 24th February: A political controversy started shortly after CM’s visit to Siliguri on 21st February. Reportedly, a stage was constructed in the stadium for CM’s program and several pits were formed in the stadium. It has been alleged that the stadium has been damaged due to the pits. Thus, on Friday the Siliguri Municipal Corporation took steps to bring the stadium back to its original form after the official ceremony.
On Friday, Mayor Goutam Deb, Siliguri Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sonam Wangdi Bhutia and other officials visited the Kanchenjunga Stadium. He inspected around the whole stadium. Mayor said that the pits made in the stadium will be filled today and the ground will be restored to its original form soon. He added that work is underway on the plan to renovate the Kanchenjunga Stadium, for which a meeting is also being held.
