Matigara police arrest five in two separate cases of theft in Siliguri

Siliguri, 26th December: In a significant breakthrough, the cops of Matigara police station have solved two separate theft cases and apprehended five miscreants within 48 hours of investigation. The police have also recovered several stolen materials. The arrested accused have been identified as Atma Chauhan, Nandan Mahato, Apratibha Roy, Hitesh Singh, and Uttam Barman.


According to reports, on December 24, miscreants committed two separate thefts in two vacant residences located in the Nagaru Jote and Baniakhari regions, which fall under the jurisdiction of Matigara police station. In both cases, the miscreants made off with valuable jewellery as well as a gas cylinder and a refrigerator. Following this, the police launched an inquiry after receiving a complaint at the station.

Within 48 hours of investigation, the officials of the Matigara police station successfully arrested the miscreants. Upon interrogating the accused, all stolen items were recovered. On Tuesday, the miscreants were produced before the Siliguri Court. At present, the police are engaged in additional investigations.
