Massive fire breaks out in Panitanki Bazaar, 11 shops reduced to ashes

Kharibari, 23rd March: A massive fire broke out in Panitanki Bazaar area of Indo-Nepal border of Kharibari, where 11 shops were reduced to ashes.


According to reports, on Saturday morning, the locals spotted the raging inferno and attempted to douse the fire. Upon receiving the information, an engine of Naxalbari fire department arrived at the spot. Additionally, two fire engines from Matigara and Siliguri and one engine from Mechinagar Municipality of Nepal also arrived. After 3 hours of valiant efforts, the situation was brought under control.

However, cosmetic, grocery, clothing and hotels were burnt down to ashes. The locals suspect short-circuit to be the cause of the fire.
