Mirik, 27th July: Martyr’s Day was observed in Panighatta, Nirpani, Chhagan Basti, Long View and several other places, on Monday.
On this occasion, flowers were laid on the memorial of the martyrs of the Gorkhaland movement and heartfelt tributes were paid respect to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the demand for a separate Gorkhaland state.
Organizing Secretary of Mirik sub-division Nauraj Chhetri expressed his view on the need for a separate development office in Panighatta for the Terai region under Mirik sub-division.
Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) central member Bindra Kumar Pradhan, Mirik sub-divisional Organizing Secretary Nawaraj Chhetri and the entire Sukna Panighatta Samashti (constituency) paid homage to the martyrs.
