Man, uncle arrested on charges of drug trafficking worth lakhs in Siliguri

Siliguri, 27th December: In a significant collaboration, the Special Operation Group (SOG) and the Siliguri police successfully arrested a man and his uncle with a substantial amount of brown sugar. The accused have been identified as MD Ekramul Sheikh and his nephew Abdus Samad, residents of Kaliachak.


According to reports, the accused duo had arrived at Millan Pally Road with a four-wheeler intending to operate the drug business. Acting on a tip-off, the team of officials launched an operation and held the vehicle on suspicion. During the search, the officials recovered 350 grams of brown sugar from the vehicle. The estimated market value of the recovered contraband is approximately Rs 10 lakh.

Subsequently, the police registered a case under the NDPS Act and arrested both the accused. During interrogation, the police established the relation between the accused individuals. On Thursday, both the accused will be presented in Siliguri court.
