Siliguri, 18th December: Sensation prevailed after a man accused of alleged sexual assault was arrested five months after the incident. The incident surfaced from the Dabgram area under the jurisdiction of the Pradhan Nagar police station. The accused has been identified as Ajay Singh (26).
According to reports, the accused Ajay Singh sexually assaulted a 35-year-old five months ago, leaving her pregnant. Further, the accused allegedly threatened the victim to not disclose the incident. Later, in the fifth month of pregnancy, the victim’s physical condition began to deteriorate. When the family members noticed her state, they were concerned and had her examined by a doctor where her pregnancy was revealed.
Upon questioning, the victim finally spoke about the incident revealing her rapist. Following this, the victim’s family filed a written complaint against Ajay Singh at the Pradhan Nagar police station. The police officers conducting the inquiry arrested the accused within two hours of receiving the report. On Monday, the accused was produced before the Siliguri court. At present, the entire incident is under further police investigation.
