Alipurduar, 27th July: In the wake of financial distress, a gold trader tragically ended his life by jumping onto the railway tracks in the Bara Bazar area of Alipurduar. The deceased has been identified as Goutam Karmakar (58), resided in Ward No. 10 of Alipurduar.
According to local sources, Karmakar had been grappling with severe financial difficulties, leading to prolonged depression. Unable to cope with the overwhelming burden, he took the extreme step and jumped under the Bamanhat Express on the railway line in Alipurduar on Thursday afternoon.
Upon receiving information, the police promptly arrived at the scene and retrieved the body. Subsequently, the body was transported to Alipurduar district hospital for postmortem examination.
