Man drowns during Chhath Puja in Siliguri

Siliguri, 11th November: A tragic incident surfaced on Chhath Puja morning, where a person accidentally drowned while puja rituals. The incident surfaced from NJP’s Ambikanagar area on Thursday morning. The deceased has been identified as Ranjan Mandal, a resident of Haripur area.


This morning, Ranjan arrived at the Chhath Ghat in Madhusudan Colony. At the end of the puja, many people were throwing coconuts in the pond. The incident occurred while he got down inside the water to collect the coconuts. After a long time, the locals recovered the body of the deceased.

Upon receiving the news, NJP police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to NBMCH. The news of the incident cast a shadow of mourning over the area.
