Rajganj, 23rd May: A man died after being hit by a train in front of the Chinnamasta Kali Temple in Sahudangi, triggering panic in the area.
The deceased has been identified as Bhaskar Ghosh (56), a resident of Hazra Para in the Cooch Behar district.
Local resident Gopal Bhakta said he received information around 10 am on Saturday that a person had been hit by a train on the railway track. On reaching the spot, he found the body in a severely mutilated condition.
Rail police reached the site after being informed and recovered the body.
According to railway police sources, the body has been sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
