Siliguri, 25th March: Police from the Siliguri Cyber Crime Police Station have arrested a man for allegedly creating a fake social media account in a woman’s name and sharing obscene images along with misleading messages. The arrested accused has been identified as Amar Dutta, a resident of Fakdaibari area.
According to information, a woman from Fakdaibari had lodged a written complaint at the Cyber Crime Police Station on 22nd February. In her complaint, she stated that someone had created a fake account using her identity and was posting obscene images from it. The account was also being used to send vulgar and misleading messages to multiple individuals.
It was further alleged that messages related to her workplace financial transactions were also circulated, causing concern and reputational damage.
Based on the complaint, the Siliguri Cyber Crime Police initiated an investigation into the matter. Acting on the findings, the accused Amar Dutta was arrested on Tuesday night. He was produced before the court on Wednesday.
