Mamata Banerjee’s poster defaced with spit stains in Siliguri’s Ward No. 24

Siliguri, 27th January: The atmosphere boiled up in Ward No. 24 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation after a poster of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was spotted defaced with spit stains.


With the SMC polls ahead, a poster has been put up near the Naba Ravi Sangha club in support of Ward No. 24 TMC candidate Protul Chakraborty. The defaced poster came to the notice of Chakraborty and other Trinamool activists during election campaigning on Thursday. Siliguri police reached the spot after receiving the news.

Trinamool activist Basu Sikdar accused BJP, CPIM, and independent candidates of carrying out such activities in the ward. They alleged that the oppositions, after losing to the popularity of Protul Chakraborty, resorted to such heinous politics.


On the other hand, BJP candidate Shankar Ghosh and independent candidate Bikash Ranjan Sarkar denied all allegations. Furthermore, accused Trinamool of diverting people’s attention from the recent abduction case of a youth, in connection to which, two TMC activists were arrested.
