Siliguri, 10th January: A serious accident occurred on Thursday night near the Eastern Bypass area. A youth riding a motorcycle was severely injured in the incident.
According to reports, the youth was travelling from Purbo Chayanpara towards Eastern Bypass when he lost control of his bike due to the poor condition of the road. As a result, he crashed and was knocked down on the road where he laid injured for awhile.
A truck driver passing through the Eastern Bypass spotted the injured and, along with the help of locals, managed to rescue him. The police from Ashighar Outpost were informed and arrived at the scene. The injured youth was then sent to the Siliguri District Hospital for medical treatment. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, locals have raised concerns about the state of the road. They claimed that a person involved in the construction of a multi-storey building in Purbo Chayanpara has been dumping sand and stones in the middle of the road. Despite repeated complaints to the builder, the issue remains unresolved.
