Mahananda river to be adorned soon, Siliguri Mayor inaugurates the project

Siliguri, 27th January: The launch of the Green City Mission Project and the work regarding beautification and up-gradation of 22 ghats along the Mahananda river commenced on Monday under the initiative of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation.


Siliguri MLA and Mayor Ashok Bhattacharya inaugurated the project by lighting a lamp. Besides, Deputy Mayor Rambhajan Mahato, Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad President Tapas Sarkar, Chairman Dilip Singh, Mayor Parishad Shardindu Chakraborty, Kamal Agarwal, Mukul Sengupta and many other dignitaries were present during the event.

The initiative intends to protect the Mahananda river from pollution. The project has been estimated at a value of 10.13 crore rupees. A total of 22 ghats along the Mahananda river from Salugara to Nouka Ghat will be improved and beautified.
