Siliguri, 27th November: Various campaigns have come up to save Siliguri’s Mahananda River, but till today no campaign has been successful. In regard to this, a vow has been taken during the time of Mahalaya to save the Mahananda River. Many organizations together have started organizing Mahananda Aarti along the lines of Ganga Aarti under Mahananda Bachao Abhiyan.
The Mahananda Bachao Abhiyan organizes a grand aarti on the banks of the Mahananda river on the last Sunday of every month. On the lines of the same, Mahananda Aarti was organized on the banks of the Mahananda River today.
During this, the bank of the river was lighted up with devotion and love. The organizer said that such aartis will be organized continuously to save the Mahananda River and if needed they might do it every week as well.
