Siliguri, 06th May: The Pradhan Nagar police have arrested an individual accused of coercing a minor to commit suicide. The arrested accused has been identified as Satyam Sarkar (23).
As per reports, two days prior, a minor committed suicide in the Samar Nagar area, prompting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. On Sunday, the mother of the deceased minor filed a complaint at the Pradhan Nagar police station accusing Satyam Sarkar of manipulating her daughter into a love affair, subjecting her to mental torment, and then resorting to blackmail. The complaint further alleged that the Satyam’s actions ultimately pushed the minor to take her own life.
Acting swiftly, the police conducted an investigation and subsequently arrested Satyam Sarkar from the area under the jurisdiction of the Pradhan Nagar police station on charges of blackmail and incitement to suicide. On Monday, Satyam Sarkar was presented before the Siliguri court for further legal proceedings.
