Lockdown update: Siliguri people sighted on the streets despite the nation-wide lockdown

Siliguri, 25th March: To prevent the further spread of the COVID-19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a lockdown across the entire country for the next 21 days from Tuesday midnight. However, some people in Siliguri still do not realize the gravity of the present situation. Several people are sighted walking around the streets. In this regard, the police are resorting to lathi charge on the main roads of Siliguri and are sending the violators back home immediately.
On the other hand, although the PM urged people not to panic and assured citizens that there will be no shortage of essential commodities and medicines during the 21-day lockdown period, a large number of people were sighted hoarding commodities in the Siliguri markets. IN this context, the administration has decided to take strict actions against the violators.
