Siliguri, 14th September: An atmosphere of tension was witnessed in Siliguri’s Ward No. 24 over the presence of outsiders in the vaccination camp. Apparently, outsiders walking around the vaccination centre have also been video-recorded.
It is to be noted, a vaccination camp was being carried out today at Jagadish Chandra Vidyapeeth School in Ward No. 24 on behalf of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. However, several outsiders were spotted entering the school and interfering with the vaccination process.
Some locals alleged that they had been standing in queues since morning. However, they were later informed that the ones who have received a call will only be vaccinated today. Following this, the agitated residents staged a road blockade in Fuleshwari and also protested in front of the school.
The alleged outsiders were still present at the spot when the police arrived. When questioned, they claimed to be volunteers of the camp. However, it has been learned that no volunteer was recruited on behalf of SMC.
Meanwhile, local Trinamool leader Bikasharanjan Sarkar said that the vaccination was going well since morning. And alleged the BJP workers of creating chaos.
