Lights, camera, action? Outdoor film shooting amid the coronavirus lockdown in Siliguri

Siliguri, 22nd July: The city is under a complete lockdown since July 16 to combat the further spreading of the novel coronavirus. On Tuesday, the city administration extended the lockdown for further 07 days, i.e. from July 23 to July 29th, considering the skyrocketing COVID-19 positive cases being recorded in Siliguri.

Despite this, on Wednesday, a film crew was spotted conducting an outdoor shooting in the Siliguri Don Bosco Road near the dumping ground. To make matters worse, several people had gathered at the spot to watch the shooting.

Upon receiving the news of the incident, the Bhaktinagar police reached the spot and intervened to stop the crew from violating the lockdown protocols. Following this, three employees of the production house were taken to the Bhaktinagar police station.

According to police sources, film shooting in public places cannot be conducted as of now as Siliguri is under complete lockdown to contain the spread of the virus. A case is likely to be filed against that authority under the Disaster Management Act.
