Left councillors accused Siliguri Municipal Corporation of ignoring the spread of dengue in the city

Siliguri, 19th September: Dengue cases are surging, but no effective measures have been taken by the Municipal Corporation alleged the Left councillors. They further alleged that the SMC is busy with festivals, carnivals, and rallies diverting from the real issues in the city, such as the spread of the dengue disease. 


The Left councilors of the Municipal Corporation alleged that the number of dengue cases is increasing day by day. However, the present Board of Municipal Corporation is not taking any steps in this matter. Not only this, they further added that the Municipal Corporation has failed to spread public awareness. A memorandum in this regard has been submitted to the SMC Commissioner Sonam Wangdi Bhutia today.

Left councilor Munshi Noorul Islam alleged that precaution and preventive measures should have been taken from the month of June-July. Instead of doing so, the present board is busy with festivals, padayatra, and carnivals. If this continues, the situation will take a dire form, he further alleged.
