Kurseong, 13th June: Following a heavy downpour since last night, the Sivitar Tea Estate area of Mahanadi Gram Panchayat under Kurseong sub-division was hit by a severe landslide.
The landslide destroyed several homes and a newly constructed road in the area. The crumbling road further damaged many houses built along the road.
The Quick Relief Team (QRT) of Sivitar took stock of the situation early morning. The team, comprising of Uttam Chhetri, Dilip Pradhan, Hemraj Chhetri and other members, presented an account of all the damages caused by landslip to the Mahanadi Gram Panchayat.
On behalf of the QRT, Uttam Chhetri stated that the team has been inspecting the landslide hit areas since this morning and have arranged for tarpaulins from the Panchayat to the affected families.
