Lakhs of rupees duped in the pretext of providing job, one arrested from Bagdogra

Rajganj, 23rd January: Another case of conning in the name of providing a job has surfaced after Rajganj police arrested a person from Bagdogra. The accused identified as Shyamal Barman, is a resident of Bhuvanguri Chhatgaon under Bagdogra police station whereas, another accused Karimul Haque, also a resident of Bagdogra is absconding.


Allegedly in 2020, Shyamal Barman and Karimul Haque had taken Rs 2,40,000 from a youth named Sajjit Hussain, a resident of Tewaripara under Kukurjan Gram Panchayat of Rajganj, in the name of getting him a job of block data entry operator. Allegedly both the accused have also taken Rs 3,50,000 from another youth named Noor Islam of Bhangamali. Both accused failed to provide a job even after taking the money. After this, when the people asked for the money, both the accused started making excuses. Last year, a check was given to Sajjit Hussain of Rs 50,000 and another youth of Rs 2 lakh, but it bounced. After this, a complaint was lodged at Rajganj police station.

Based on the complaint the police, under the leadership of SI Mansooruddin of Rajganj police station, arrested Shyamal Barman on Sunday night. Today the accused has been produced in the Jalpaiguri court. However, the accused has denied taking the money. According to Rajganj police sources, after taking the accused into custody, efforts will be made to find out others’ involvement in the said fraud.
