Labour fell to death from an under-construction multi-story building in Siliguri while two injured

Siliguri, 01st December: A labourer died after falling from the 7th floor of an under-construction multi-story building in Rai Colony, Ward No. 42 of Siliguri. While two are reported to have sustained injuries. 


Reportedly, a structure was being constructed for roofing which broke and the three labourers fell from the seventh floor leaving one dead and two injured. The deceased labourer has been identified as Dhirendra Singh, a resident of Katihar in Bihar. At the same time, the injured have been identified as Surjo Roy and Sanjay Roy. It is reported that the labourers were working with no safety equipment.

On receiving the news of the incident, the police of Bhaktinagar police station reached the spot and sent the injured labourers to the nearest hospital while the deceased was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. ACP Shubhendra Kumar, Borough No. 5 Chairperson Pritikna Biswas, and No. 42 Ward Councilor Shobha Subba also reached the spot. During this, ACP Shubhendra Kumar said that the matter is being investigated.


On the other hand, Ward Councilor Shobha Subba said that they are probing into the cause of such a fatal incident. She further assured to take legal action if anyone is behind the said incident. While on the other hand, Borough No. 5 chairperson Pritikna Biswas said that the cause of the incident would be investigated.
