Kolkata Police register case against Kailash Vijayvargiya, 6 other BJP leaders

Kolkata, 09th October: The Kolkata Police of West Bengal has registered a case against several top leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a day after the party’s ‘Nabanna Chalo’ protests in West Bengal turned violent.


The Kolkata Police has filed a case against the BJP National Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, National Vice President Mukul Roy, MPs Locket Chatterjee, Arjun Singh, Rakesh Singh, BJP leaders Bharati Ghosh and Jayprakash Majumdar for “unlawful assembly and law violation”. 

It is to recall, during BJP’s ‘Nabanna Chalo’ protest march on Thursday against Mamata Banerjee government, alleging deterioration in the ‘law and order’ situation in the state, clashes broke out between the party workers and the police. 


Police resorted to lathi-charge, tear gas, water cannon to disperse the protesters during which several party leaders and workers sustained serious injuries.
