Siliguri, 08th January: Late Lavanya Kumar Ghosh Knockout Cricket Tournament has begun under the aegis of Bidhannagar Milanpally Sporting Club. Siliguri’s Mayor Goutam Deb inaugurated the said tournament.
During this Siliguri Mahakma Parishad Chairman Arun Ghosh, Chairman Roma Reshmi Ekka, Trinamool Darjeeling district leader Papiya Ghosh, SDPO Achintya Gupta and others were present.
Apart from local teams, teams from neighbouring states including Raiganj, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Assam, and Bihar have participated in the said tournament. The winning team will win Rs 1 lakh and a trophy whereas the runner-up team will win prize money of Rs 50,000 and a trophy.
Today the first match took place between Shankar XI Bidhannagar and Mahakal Boys Cooch Behar team.
