‘Khet Bachao Abhiyaan’ held in Siliguri in collaboration with COFAM and Bharatiya Kisan Sangh

Siliguri, 06th July: A ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyaan’ programme was organised in Siliguri in collaboration with the Centre of Floriculture and Agri-Business Management (COFAM) of North Bengal University and the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh.

The event was inaugurated on the birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee by Minister of State Anandamay Barman. Farmers from various districts of North Bengal participated in the training camp.

The programme focused on promoting organic farming practices with the aim of producing chemical-free agricultural products in the future and expanding awareness of organic agriculture in society.

MoS Annamoy Barman said that India is an agriculture-dependent country and farmers play a crucial role in food production. He stated that multiple initiatives are being taken for the development of farmers, and their reflection can already be seen in the budget. He also said efforts are being made to advance agriculture through scientific methods and that farmers from different parts of North Bengal are being trained to promote organic farming.
