JD(U) Darjeeling District Committee decided to fight elections alone

Siliguri, 17th February: In 2020, the Janata Dal United’s Darjeeling District Committee has decided to fight the elections by themselves in all the 47 wards of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation.

During a press conference, the Darjeeling District President Bhushan Kumar Foni stated they would stage a rally in all the 47 wards in support of various demands such as to implement the ‘Nitish Model’ in the state, to free the city of traffic congestion and to promote greenery. Several steps will also be taken to make Siliguri a drug-free city.

Bhushan Kumar Foni further stated that CPI(M) and TMC are opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 (CAA). Earlier, in 2014 elections, the committee fought the elections in only a few wards. However, this year they are ready to fight the elections in all the 47 wards.
