Jalpaiguri MP Jayanta Roy stopped midway by the police while on his way to the storm-hit areas

Jalpaiguri, 27th May: The Police officials have been accused of stopping Jalpaiguri MP Jayanta Roy midway while he was on his way to the storm-hit areas in Maynaguri block.

After strong storm winds caused widespread damage in Maynaguri block on Monday, MP Jayanta Roy, on Wednesday, was heading towards Maynaguri to inspect the affected areas and also to help the poor families. It has been alleged that few police officials stopped his car near the Teesta bridge area and forcefully detained him as well as District President Bapi Goswami and BJP District Vice-President Alok Chakraborty who were also present with him.

In this context, Jayanta Roy stated that after receiving numerous calls from people in the storm-hit areas, he was on his way to Maynaguri to help the affected families but was unfortunately stopped midway.
