Jalpaiguri, 14th July: The COVID-19 report of an 80-year old man in Jalpaiguri came back positive after 48 hours of his death. Not aware of the patient’s condition, his family arranged a normal funeral for him. The incident has created panic among the residents of the area.
As per the information, the 80-year-old was a resident of Jalpaiguri Ward No. 28 Puratan Police area and was admitted to a nursing home in the city’s Rajbari Para on Friday following fever and other symptoms. Later on Sunday, the patient breathed his last. The body was brought home and cremated at Maskalaibari crematorium. Reportedly, several people had attended his funeral.
Meanwhile, as his COVID-19 report came back positive today, an atmosphere of tension engulfed the area.
The administration has already initiated the process of sanitizing the locality and declared it as a containment zone. Meanwhile, the health workers and doctors of the nursing home who attended the patient have been sent to quarantine.
