Jalpaiguri, 23rd May: The residents of Jalpaiguri Pandapara Ghosh Para, on Saturday, staged a protest accusing Rajiv Ghosh and his wife Meenakshi Ghosh of selling intoxicants in their own house. The accused couple are reportedly residents of the said area.
Although the police arrested both the accused earlier on the charge of selling intoxicants, the couple allegedly started carrying out similar trade after getting released. The agitated locals expressed outrage over the issue and staged a demonstration today.
Mili Biswas, a local, warned of reporting the matter to the administration if the couple continues selling intoxicants from now on. She further stated that such activities are degrading the atmosphere of their locality and such incidents should stop immediately.
On the other hand, accused Meenakshi Ghosh denied all the allegations and further claimed that since their phone has stopped working, several people visit their house regularly to meet her ailing husband.
