Irrigation and Waterways Minister held meeting with officials at Gajoldoba to tackle flood situation

Rajganj, 05th October: West Bengal Irrigation and Waterways Minister Partha Bhowmick held a meeting with officials in Gajoldoba. On the instructions of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Irrigation and Waterways Minister, along with other ministers, arrived at Gajoldoba under the Jalpaiguri district.


As per reports, on Thursday, a meeting was held with the officials of various concerned departments, including officials of the administration at the Hawa Mahal in Gajoldoba. During the meeting, Minister for North Bengal Development Sabina Yasmin, Minister for Environment Md Gulam Rabbani, Minister for Backward Classes Welfare Bulu Chik Baraik, DM Shama Parveen, Superintendent of Police Khandbahale Umesh Ganpat, Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy and Gajoldoba Barrage and Irrigation Department engineers and officials were present.

In this regard, Minsiter Partha Bhowmik stated that due to the disaasterous flash flood in Sikkim, several areas of Jalpaiguri including Gajoldoba, Domohani, and Mekliganj in Cooch Behar were inundated. He added that as the water recedes, the actual toll of damage can be ascertained. Furthermore, he stated that efforts are underway to prevent further damage.
