Inmates set fire in Kolkata’s Dum Dum Central Jail amid Coronavirus panic

Kolkata, 21st March: A clash broke out between the inmates and jail officials at Kolkata’s Dum Dum Central Jail, on Saturday, due to the restrictions imposed in the prison in view of the Coronavirus outbreak. The inmates allegedly started a fire in the prison premises. A fire engine was immediately dispatched to the scene.


According to a report, the inmates had also been demanding masks and sanitizers to the jail authorities to keep themselves safe from the virus. It is to be noted, so far, three positive case cases of the COVID-19 have been confirmed in Kolkata.
