Siliguri, 19th March: The Income Tax Department raided several gold shops in Siliguri’s Hillcart Road, Gurung Basti, and Khudirampalli area.
Allegedly, the traders did not cooperate with the officials of the Income Tax Department during the process and prevented them from doing their work. Hence, the authorities detained two people from a gold shop in Gurung basty on the charge of hindering the operation carried out by the Income Tax department.
It is to be noted that the Siliguri police arrested a person with 80 lakh rupees from Jhankar more. After investigating the incident, the IT Department learned that several traders of Siliguri were involved in this incident and raided the houses of various businessmen.
They also raided three gold shops in Siliguri today and the operation will continue till tonight.
