Siliguri, 18th March: Illegal foreign liquor worth lakhs was recovered before smuggling, on Thursday. One person, identified as Triloki Sharma was arrested in the incident. He is a resident of Chapra in Bihar.
The police received a tip-off that a large quantity of liquor was being transported inside the secret chamber of a truck for smuggling from Arunachal Pradesh to Bihar via Buxirhat. Based on it, a team of NJP police raided in Fulbari check post on Thursday morning and detained the truck loaded with liquor. Upon searching, 700 cartons of foreign liquor worth Rs 11 lakh were recovered from the secret chamber. He was sent to Jalapiguri court on Friday.
