Rajganj, 04th June: A joint operation by Bhorer Alo Police Station and the NJP Excise Department led to the busting of an illegal country liquor manufacturing unit in Rajganj, where liquor and raw materials were allegedly concealed inside a refrigerator, a septic tank, and underground pits.
Acting on a tip-off, officials carried out a raid at Nepali Basti under Binnaguri Gram Panchayat on Thursday. The operation was led by Bhorer Alo Police Station OC Sudip Dutta and NJP Excise Department OC Hriday Roy, along with police personnel and central force jawans.
During the raid, the team uncovered an illegal country liquor manufacturing unit and recovered large quantities of illicit liquor, raw materials, and equipment used in the production process.
According to the Excise Department, 240 litres of ID, 320 litres of fermented wash, and 600 litres of pachai were seized during the operation. Officials also recovered 17 drums and three aluminium containers. The estimated market value of the seized items is around ₹2.44 lakh.
Investigators found that hundreds of bottles of illicit liquor had been stored inside a refrigerator, while additional liquor and raw materials had been hidden inside a septic tank and beneath the ground to avoid detection.
Following the seizure, officials destroyed the recovered liquor and manufacturing materials. A search has been launched for those involved in the illegal operation, and authorities said similar drives will continue to curb the illicit liquor trade in the region.
