‘I will not allow illegal activities to happen in Siliguri while I am alive’: Mayor Goutam Deb

Siliguri, 15th December: After allegations of capitalists eyeing the land near Adhikar Pally surfaced, Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb reached the area to assure the people that he will not allow any illegal activities to happen while he is alive. 


According to the report, after the formation of Uttar Kanya in Fulbari, Goutam Deb, who was the then North Bengal Development Minister had made arrangements to rehabilitate the residents in Adhikar Pally near Sahudangi. Allegedly, capitalists have an eye on the land of the said area and talks of building big factories are also going on. People further alleged that attempts are being made to capture the area and the riverbanks. They accused the capitalists of encroaching on railway land by diverting the river. 

On receiving the information about this, Goutam Deb reached the area today. He expressed his displeasure over the current situation in the area. He said that he will look into the matter sternly.
