Husband and father-in-law charged with Siliguri woman’s murder

Siliguri, 12th March: Chiranjit Saha, a resident of Rajiv Nagar, and his father have been arrested by the Pradhan Nagar Police for allegedly murdering a woman in Siliguri.


According to reports, the body of a woman, identified as Jhuma Das, was recovered, on March 10, from the Rajiv Nagar area under Pradhan Nagar Police Station of Siliguri Metropolitan Police. It has been alleged that Jhuma committed suicide due to domestic disturbance.

Jhuma Das, a resident of Sukantapally of Matigara, was married to Chiranjit Saha, a resident of Rajiv Nagar. As Jhuma could not cope up with the domestic disturbance in Chiranjit’s residence after the marriage, she went back to living with her mother. However, Jhuma returned to her in-law’s residence, before Holi. It was reported that her body was recovered hanging from a noose on March 10.


The very next day, Rekha Das, the mother of the deceased, filed a written complaint at Pradhan Nagar Police station against the in-laws and alleged that they had murdered Jhuma. Based on the allegations, the Pradhan Nagar Police arrested Jhuma’s husband Chiranjit Saha and her father-in-law, late last night. The duo was presented at the court, today. The police are further investigating the incident.
