Naxalbari, 10th April: In a drive against counterfeit liquor business, the Excise Department (ED) has seized a significant amount of spirit.
According to reports, on Tuesday night, the officials from the Naxalbari Excise Department, Jalpaiguri Excise Department, and Siliguri Circle conducted a joint raid on a house in the Guabari area under the Kharibari Police Station based on a tip-off. During the operation, the officials confiscated several materials used to manufacture fake liquor, including 500 liters of raw spirit.
The estimated market value of the seized materials is around Rs 21 lakhs. However, the accused Jharu Singh involved in the incident is currently absconding.
