Naxalbari, 01st March: A wild elephant wreaked havoc in the Godown Line area of Naxalbari Tea Estate under Naxalbari Block today and destroyed many houses.
According to the information received, an elephant barged into the area early in the morning and destroyed four houses along with stored crops causing a lot of damage.
On receiving the information about the incident, the forest department reached the spot and chased the elephant to the forest. People of the area complained that the wild animals often enter their village and cause destruction. They demanded the authorities take relevant measures and provide financial help.
