Nagrakata, 24th September: Several houses and shops have been damaged after a herd of elephants went on a rampage in the Laljhamela Basty area under ​​Nagrakata block.


According to the sources, a herd of elephants came out of the Red Bank Tea Garden Salpani division and entered the aforementioned area at around 12 am last night. Several houses and shops were damaged and few trees were uprooted. A betel nut orchard was also affected in the incident.

In this regard, Pranab Das, Ranger of Diana Range stated that if the affected families demand compensation, they will be compensated as per the government rules.
