Heated argument at Open House Meeting in North Bengal University, further meeting postponed

Siliguri, 14th December: Heated arguments flared during the Open House Meeting at North Bengal University called in regards to the issue of the university’s land privatisation. The said meeting was called by the Vice-Chancellor on the university campus today and people of all classes were involved in this.

At the very beginning of the meeting, a lot of uproars and sloganeering started to hold the meeting outside rather than in an enclosed area. The situation boiled to such an extent that the meeting was adjourned. This infuriated everyone from university alumni to local residents and political party leaders who came to attend the meeting.

The Vice-Chancellor said that in the coming days, there will be an open house in every department of the university. While BJP MLA Anandamoy Barman (Matigara-Naxalbari) said that the issue of land scam should be addressed first, and then other issues should be discussed. He added that this was the only reason why everyone protested at the open house.
